This is an aggressive category.
This category will skip any segments that are not present in the official audio release, including warnings for flashing lights, NSFW, and similar.

Music: Non-Music Section is for skipping talking and other non-music distractions in edited uploads or music videos that differ from any official music release. This category is only for music videos and videos showcasing music as their primary content.

Description

This applies to:

  • Official music videos
  • Unofficial music videos
  • Remixes
  • Mashups
  • Covers
  • Concerts
  • Recordings of live music performances
    • Not full-length musicals.
  • Comedic skits that are primarily musical.
    • Not if the skit merely contains music.

Exceptions / edge cases

With all segments placed correctly, the video should resemble the track found on music services or any other mix version, while reducing stretches of complete silence after or before songs.

  • Applause should be cut as much as is practical.
  • Non-music may cover any visuals if needed, including content warnings.[1]
  • Non-music exists detached from other categories, meaning it can overlap with segments of other categories.
    • Other categories such as  Intros and  endcards should still be submitted on music videos, but they must not cut any music.
    • If all non-music segments are correctly placed and you have a different segment that is not also covered by a non-music segment, it is definitely wrong.
  • If music continues playing in the background while other things are happening, it should not be cut.
  • Absolute silence before and after a song may be cut, but only when nothing can be heard from the video. Boost your audio to make this type of cut accurately.
    • Do not skip during audio fade-in/fade-out transitions.
    • If the original mix features silence or talking in the middle of the song, it should not be cut.

This category does not apply to:

  • Music uploads that are already identical to the original mix.
  • Dialogue and visual scenes in full-length musicals and short films.
  • Rhythm game gameplay.

To create extra accurate segments, refer to the advice for submitting.
