Although the USAF has been involved in promotional campaigns, most media falls under Exclusive Access since they grant access to restricted and exclusive locations.While deeply integrated, they cannot monetarily sponsor influencers.


There are a few circumstances that would indicate otherwise

  • USAF service members currently working as social media or outreach - Selfpromo unless the channel is not associated with the USAF
  • Script Control - Full Video Sponsor since the content is determined by the USAF
  • Explicitly sponsored recruitment campaigns such as Inside the Battle[1]


Examples

  • AFA recruitment drives such as AIMS[2][3] while targeting content creators do not count as sponsorships since no money changed hands
  • No money changed hands for Katy Perry's marine base music video [4]
  • Sam Eckholm - While formerly a Public Affairs Officer[5], there is no indication of any monetary partnership with the USAF - Exclusive Access
  • Top Gun Maverick had USAF script approval[6]
