Removing segments

Segments can be removed in different ways.

Downvoting

When you downvote other users' segments and it achieves a net -2 score, it is no longer served to users. Downvoting your own segment will set the segment's score to -2 regardless of the current number of votes, meaning you can effectively always remove your own segments.

Video duration

If a video's duration changes due to edits by the uploader (for example, channels can cut out parts of videos after uploading), all segments previously submitted on the video are shadow-hidden and automatically removed on any new submission or vote.

Live videos

During a livestream or premiere, the video duration is not stable. This state can even persist for a while after the livestream ends. To find out whether this is the case, open the “statistics for nerds” menu and look for “live manifestless” or “post-live manifestless”. As long as the video is manifestless, no segments should be submitted.

Banned users

If a user is banned by a VIP, all segments submitted by that user will be hidden on every video. To ask to remove a disruptive user's segments, send a message on Discord or Matrix in the #report-a-user channel.
